Open iOS Settings → General → Keyboard → Keyboards → Add New Keyboard… and pick Go Translate. Then tap it again and switch on Allow Full Access so the keyboard can reach the translation server.
iOS keyboards run in a sandbox without network by default. Full Access is what lets the keyboard call our translation server. We never log or store anything you type — your text only leaves the keyboard when you tap the Translate button.
This is almost always because Full Access is off. Go to iOS Settings → General → Keyboard → Keyboards → Go Translate and enable Allow Full Access.
Yes. Tap the small gear icon in the top bar of the keyboard to switch between QWERTY, AZERTY and QWERTZ.
Hold the camera steady, fill the frame with the text, and make sure the light is even. Glossy or curved surfaces (menus behind plastic, bottles) work better when angled to avoid reflections.
Yes — tap the gallery icon on the Camera screen and choose any photo. OCR runs locally on your device using Apple's Vision framework.
Latin, Cyrillic, Greek, Hebrew, Arabic, Devanagari, Bengali, CJK (Chinese / Japanese / Korean), Thai and several more. If a script isn't detected on your iOS version, updating to the latest iOS will usually unlock it.
Apple's on-device speech engine only supports a subset of languages — and only when the system has downloaded that locale. Open iOS Settings → General → Keyboard → Dictation, switch dictation on, and add the language there. Restart Go Translate after.
Make sure each side taps their own mic. Each turn fully resets the other card so transcripts and translations land on the correct side. If you tap the wrong mic, just tap it once to stop and tap the other person's mic.
Either the microphone permission is denied, or another app (a call, a voice memo) is holding the audio session. Quit other audio apps and grant the permission in iOS Settings → Go Translate → Microphone.
PDF, TXT, RTF and DOCX. The original structure is preserved as far as the text content goes; complex layouts and embedded images aren't re-rendered.
The translator splits long documents into chunks and translates them sequentially. If you hit a network error mid-way, just tap Translate again — already-translated chunks aren't re-billed.
From the result view, tap Export to save as PDF or TXT, or Share to send it to AirDrop, Mail, Files, or any share-extension target.
No. Translation requests pass through our proxy and are forwarded to a machine-translation engine, then discarded. Nothing is written to disk on the server. See the Privacy Policy for the full breakdown.
In the app, open Settings → Clear History. History is stored only on your iPhone, so deleting the app also removes it entirely.
No. Go Translate has no analytics SDKs, no ad-targeting SDKs, and no user accounts to sell. AdMob serves ads but receives no identifiable information from the app.
The app is free, supported by light ads. An interstitial may appear after roughly every three translations across any mode, with a minimum 60-second gap so it never spams. Ads can be disabled by the publisher at any time without an app update.
The premium AI translation models (GPT-4 family) are unlocked for one hour after you watch a rewarded ad. After the hour you can watch another ad to extend it. The standard translation model has no restrictions.
